Al-Masad

المسد

أعوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the accursed Satan

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍۢ وَتَبَّ ۝
111:1

May the hands of Abū Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.1 Footnote - 1 Abū Lahab (the Prophet's uncle) , who was an enemy of Islām.

Tafseer
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ ۝
111:2

His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.

Tafseer
سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًۭا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۢ ۝
111:3

He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

Tafseer
وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ ۝
111:4

And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood.1 Footnote - 1 She used to put thorns in the Prophet's path and slander him (ﷺ) . The word "firewood" was used by the Arabs to allude to slander and backbiting.

Tafseer
فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌۭ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ ۝
111:5

Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber.
