Ash-Sharh

Did We not expand for you your breast?1 Footnote - 1 i.e., enlighten, assure and gladden your heart with guidance.

And We removed from you your burden1 Footnote - 1 By forgiving any errors which you may have committed previously or might commit consequently. "Burden" can also refer to the anxiety experienced by the Prophet (ﷺ) at the beginning of his mission.

which weighed so heavily on your back,

And raised high for you your repute.

For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease [i.e., relief].

Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].

And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
