Ṭāhā

طه

أعوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the accursed Satan

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

طه ۝
20:1

Ṭâ-Hâ.

Tafseer
مَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِتَشْقَىٰٓ ۝
20:2

We have not revealed the Quran to you ˹O Prophet˺ to cause you distress,

Tafseer
إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةًۭ لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ ۝
20:3

but as a reminder to those in awe ˹of Allah˺.

Tafseer
تَنزِيلًۭا مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ٱلْعُلَى ۝
20:4

˹It is˺ a revelation from the One Who created the earth and the high heavens—

Tafseer
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ ۝
20:5

the Most Compassionate, ˹Who is˺ established on the Throne.

Tafseer
لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ ۝
20:6

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth and whatever is in between and whatever is underground.

Tafseer
وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِٱلْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى ۝
20:7

Whether you speak openly ˹or not˺, He certainly knows what is secret and what is even more hidden.

Tafseer
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۝
20:8

Allah—there is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. He has the Most Beautiful Names.

Tafseer
وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ۝
20:9

Has the story of Moses reached you ˹O Prophet˺?

Tafseer
إِذْ رَءَا نَارًۭا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًۭا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ هُدًۭى ۝
20:10

When he saw a fire, he said to his family, “Wait here, ˹for˺ I have spotted a fire. Perhaps I can bring you a torch from it, or find some guidance at the fire.”1

Tafseer
فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِىَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ ۝
20:11

But when he approached it, he was called, “O Moses!

Tafseer
إِنِّىٓ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكَ فَٱخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًۭى ۝
20:12

It is truly I. I am your Lord! So take off your sandals, for you are in the sacred valley of Ṭuwa.

Tafseer
وَأَنَا ٱخْتَرْتُكَ فَٱسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰٓ ۝
20:13

I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed:

Tafseer
إِنَّنِىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدْنِى وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكْرِىٓ ۝
20:14

‘It is truly I. I am Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Me. So worship Me ˹alone˺, and establish prayer for My remembrance.

Tafseer
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ ۝
20:15

The Hour is sure to come. My Will is to keep it hidden, so that every soul may be rewarded according to their efforts.

Tafseer
فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَتَرْدَىٰ ۝
20:16

So do not let those who disbelieve in it and follow their desires distract you from it, or you will be doomed.’”

Tafseer
وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰ ۝
20:17

˹Allah added,˺ “And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?”

Tafseer
قَالَ هِىَ عَصَاىَ أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِى وَلِىَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخْرَىٰ ۝
20:18

He replied, “It is my staff! I lean on it, and with it I beat down ˹branches˺ for my sheep, and have other uses for it.”1

Tafseer
قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَـٰمُوسَىٰ ۝
20:19

Allah said, “Throw it down, O Moses!”

Tafseer
فَأَلْقَىٰهَا فَإِذَا هِىَ حَيَّةٌۭ تَسْعَىٰ ٢٠ ۝
20:20

So he did, then—behold!—it became a serpent, slithering.

Tafseer
قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ ۖ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۝
20:21

Allah said, “Take it, and have no fear. We will return it to its former state.

Tafseer
وَٱضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٍ ءَايَةً أُخْرَىٰ ۝
20:22

And put your hand under your armpit, it will come out ˹shining˺ white, unblemished,1 as another sign,

Tafseer
لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا ٱلْكُبْرَى ۝
20:23

so that We may show you some of Our greatest signs.

Tafseer
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ ۝
20:24

Go to Pharaoh, for he has truly transgressed ˹all bounds˺.”

Tafseer
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱشْرَحْ لِى صَدْرِى ۝
20:25

Moses prayed, “My Lord! Uplift my heart for me,

Tafseer
وَيَسِّرْ لِىٓ أَمْرِى ۝
20:26

and make my task easy,

Tafseer
وَٱحْلُلْ عُقْدَةًۭ مِّن لِّسَانِى ۝
20:27

and remove the impediment from my tongue

Tafseer
يَفْقَهُوا۟ قَوْلِى ۝
20:28

so people may understand my speech,1

Tafseer
وَٱجْعَل لِّى وَزِيرًۭا مِّنْ أَهْلِى ۝
20:29

and grant me a helper from my family,

Tafseer
هَـٰرُونَ أَخِى ۝
20:30

Aaron, my brother.
